Our shopping cart expert is experienced
with the issues involved in shopping cart accidents.
Dr. John Morse has made multiple appearances on national
television related to his research with shopping cart
accidents and children. Dr. Morse filed a complaint
with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Common accidents are rear tip-overs
and side-to-side tip-overs.
Different shopping carts have different tendencies to
tip-over to the rear. Dr. Morse has developed a standard
test for comparative analysis of various shopping cart
designs. Injuries in shopping carts can be severe in
a rear tip-over. As the cart tips over, the child's
feet hit the ground somewhat outstretched. As the cart
continues to rotated into the ground, the handle bar
can come down on the child's legs with the full dynamic
force of the weight of the child and the cart. The result
can be broken femurs and other injuries.
